Connecting high school students with Wayne County good job opportunities

This picture shows Orrville students getting a look at parts being manufactured at Will-Burt for JLG. It is derived from a Daily Record photo taken by Mike Schenk.

It was a big day Friday as hundreds of students received a direct look at 14 local manufacturing companies that contribute as driving forces to our area economy. Students had the opportunity to see manufacturing job opportunities up close — everything from operating sophisticated computer controlled manufacturing processes to engineering leadership helping to design and guide operation of manufacturing facilities.

Our workforce for today and in the near term is one of our key challenges. It presents both tremendous opportunities but the concern of far too many of our citizens missing out barriers and gaps that are in the way. Manufacturing Day is an exmple of efforts to help more Wayne Countians lift themsleves and their family members to successful, self-suffiencent living.
