Senator Ron Amstutz is wrapping up his seventh year
representing the
22nd Ohio Senate district.
The
district includes all of Medina, Wayne and
Holmes counties, plus much of Ashland County.
His legislative duties this session include:

Prior to his service in the Senate, Ron served 20 years in the Ohio House of Representatives. His experience includes numerous leadership and committee assignments, such as Assistant Majority Whip and Chairman of the Education Section of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee.
Ron Amstutz has been a lifelong resident of Wayne County, Ohio. He was raised on a dairy farm between Dalton and Kidron, moved to Orrville in 1971 and has lived in Wooster since 1981.
Rons political career kicked off in 1976 when he was elected Mayor of the City of Orrville. Ron held the position through 1980, when he ran successfully for the Ohio House of Representatives.
Ron was a leader in enacting major tax reforms in
2005 that are lowering Ohio's personal income tax
rates 21 percent across the board over the next
several years and that are repositioning Ohio's
business taxes to encourage investment in job
creating enterprise to make our state more
competitive.
For five years Ron worked in the Orrville office of The Daily Record. His initial assignment was writer/photographer. He was promoted to bureau editor after two years of service.
He is a graduate of Central Christian High School and holds a B.A. Degree in Government Communications from Capital University.
Ron is also active in local civic and volunteer organizations. Ron is past president and chairman of the board for the Orrville Jaycees. He also served as an elected member of the Orrville City Charter Commission. He is a long-standing member of the board of the Orrville Area Boys' and Girls Club and is a member of Wooster Rotary Club. He is a member of the Wayne County Republican Party, sitting on its Executive Committee.
